Summer is here and the time is right to go overboard with summer squash recipes! One of my go-to summer meals is the zucchini boat, which can best be described as a sort of “flatbread” with a long slice of zucchini standing in for crust. Unlike a real boat, zucchini boats are extremely budget-friendly. This first boat resembles garlic bread, but with zucchini subbing in for the bread.

A North Carolina woman has told authorities she returned home from work recently to find her seven-year-old daughter covered in blood, claiming to have been sexually assaulted. The girl told her mother she had been assaulted by Brentley Jason Breyers, the man she refers to as “father,” according to police. The woman told authorities she had left her four children with Mr Bryers on Friday morning while she went to work.

Well, this fashion statement is one giant YIKES. Online based fashion store BelleChic is in hot water after selling a tote bag with a questionable message. By George Obulutsa NAIROBI (Reuters) - Kenyan opposition presidential candidate Raila Odinga on Monday fielded questions alone on stage after his rival, President Uhuru Kenyatta, failed to show up for a debate between the two. Odinga, who is the flagbearer for the National Super Alliance coalition, said his top priorities if elected in the Aug. 8 general election would be to lower food prices and rent and tackle youth unemployment. "This law is meant to protect the poor from exploitation by the landlords," Odinga said.

Nigeria's president has said he is recovering from illness and that he expects to return from treatment in London once doctors give the go-ahead, his office said on Tuesday. Muhammadu Buhari has been on indefinite medical leave in the British capital since May 7 and until Sunday had not been seen, sparking a flurry of rumours he was dying or even dead. Now, his office said Buhari sent a letter on Monday to his counterpart in Guinea, Alpha Conde, thanking him for his call last week for national prayers for his recovery.

By Idrees Ali WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Two Chinese fighter jets intercepted a U.S. Navy surveillance plane over the East China Sea at the weekend, with one jet coming within about 300 feet (91 meters) of the American aircraft, U.S. officials said on Monday. The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said initial reports showed one of the Chinese J-10 aircraft came close enough to the U.S. EP-3 plane on Sunday to cause the American aircraft to change direction. The Pentagon said that the encounter between the aircraft was unsafe, but added that the vast majority of interactions were safe.
